Pro Transparency in Government
Government works best when it is open and accountable to the people. I made a commitment during my campaign to bring total transparency to our town leadership. In my very first town council meeting, I delivered by making the demand to live-stream and record all Town Council meetings. This idea had been talked about for quite some time, but I was instrumental in making it happen. Working citizens no longer have to guess what happens at meetings now they can see and hear for themselves on their own schedule.
Protecting our small town and way of life
Smithfield’s unique charm and history deserve protection, not unchecked expansion. I was one of only two Town Council members who stood firm and voted no against a high-profile rezoning and dense development that I did not believe fit in with the character of our town. I have proven that I put our community’s voice first. I don’t just sit on the Council I actively listen to our citizens and engage them to defend the quality of life that makes Smithfield home.
Cutting Red Tape for Local Businesses
Small businesses are the backbone of Smithfield’s economy. As a previous business owner, I understand the complexities and challenges of running a company. I am dedicated to removing unnecessary and some outdated regulations so our local entrepreneurs can thrive. By voting to eliminate burdensome municipal fees and personally guiding new owners through the town permitting processes, I am striving to make Smithfield an easier, more affordable place to do business.
